Mr. Frills B&B in Rome

I am considering staying at Mr. Frills B&B in Rome in June. I found a few reviews on tripadvisor but can't find anybody mentioning it on any travel forums. So I was wondering if anybody here has ever stayed there and if so what did you think?

The website is http://www.bbmrfrills.com/

If not, has anybody stayed at a B&B or apartment with a good location in Rome for under 100 euro per night in June? Mr. Frills is only 90 euro.

I had never heard of this b&, but the reviews on tripadvisor.com seem so good, and not obviously fake. I think I would go for it. The price is great.

We stayed at Arco del Lauro last May, but it was more expensive. And you had to go out for breakfast, which was a voucher for coffee and a roll.

lindy, 90 euros is a very good price. But I have to say I don't like the neighbourhood. I stayed near this B+B (at a hotel right at the Metro station on the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II) and found it just too far from the main sights, and from restaurants. I love walking in Rome, but not around this area.

Now, I mostly travel solo, so I worry a bit about neighbourhoods at night -- I like to be where there are lots of people out and about after dark. I found the streets in this area pretty much deserted at the end of the work day.

Just a thought. I'm not answering your question directly, but sometimes it can be a false economy if one stays outside the centre to save money, but is then restrained from doing things because of the location.

I have no idea but I love the name. I'm imagining brekkie being served by a very camp man.

I am staying in a b&b in Rome in May. I am paying 90 euros with a breakfast voucher. I have never been there and reviews are very limited on the place, I have a feeling it is newer. But, the area can't be beat. It is right around the corner from the Piazza Navona. I agree with the above poster, Mr. Frills is not in the best location. If you want to check it out, it is B&B al Centro di Roma.

I am a little worried abot the location too but am having trouble finding something with good reviews, in a better location, and around 100 euro.

I also contacted the Centro di Roma B&B and they are booked when we are there. It looks like a great B&B though, and I love the location.

I will be staying at the Orlando Innamorato in April when I go to Rome. I picked this B&B because it has gotten good ratings on sites like TripAdvisor, it looks cute and clean, and I have had good communications with the owner via email while booking. The price is 70 euro per night, but I'm sure it will be higher in June. The website is http://www.orlandoinnamorato.it/ and I will be sure to report back upon my return April 9th!

So I found this B&B http://www.surprisinginrome.it/home-english.htm called Surprising in Rome. It has good reviews but it is 113 euro. Is that location, west of Piazza Navona, is worth the extra 23 euro a night?

Wow, tough choice lindy! The location of the Surprising B+B is fantastic -- I've rented an apartment very near there, and it is really in the middle of the things you'll likely want to see. Far better than the location of Mr. Frills.

BUT the noise would bother me, I have to say. It's on an extremely busy street, and I notice that while most of the reviews on Trip Advisor are positive, most mention the noise. I have to say I would also be bothered by the shared bathroom aspect of the place.

But those are certainly issues that wouldn't bother some people.

Have you thought about renting an apartment? Sometimes there are good deals to be found -- a friend has found a cute little studio off the Piazza Farnese for under 100 euro a night for the first week of July. I was pretty amazed by that, but the place looks very good for one or two people.

I would definately consider an apartment. I have looked at apartments but have just had more trouble finding reviews from people who have stayed at them. We will only be there for 5 nights too, which is an issue with some apartments.

On the Mr Frills location: I've been thinking that of course it is nicest to be at the very very center of things, but if your budget is tight, the Mr Frills location isn't terrible. It's not like you won't be able to walk anywhere from there. And there is plenty of public transportation. As I mentioned before, the Roma Pass was great for us.

Even if you are not in a neighborhood that you want to spend your evenings in, that doesn't mean that you won't enjoy walking around Rome. You will walk and walk and walk: it's the nature of the city.

Another thought: Yes, we all have a perfect neighborhood, but I think of it this way: would I stay in the West 90s in NY if the price was right? Of course I would. Not my favorite walking neighborhood, but I know how to use transport to get in and out. I don't know if the analogy works for you, but it's the best way I could think of putting it right.

I've stayed all over Rome and never thought my stay was ruined by location.

On the Surprise B&B: is there an elevator? That can be a heck of a climb. I like the AC, though. It sounds like the bathrooms are private, just not ensuite. I would take a robe, I guess.

Very interesting choices. I might go for the cheaper one, but I'm cheap!
