Moulin Rouge?

Has anyone been to the Moulin Rouge lately ... the 11 p.m. show ... and can they tell me what to expect, and any other tips? We are tentatively scheduled to go on a Friday night. Thank you.

We went, and it was fun. Don't go for the dinner before the show. Word on the street is that it's not very good. Dress in business casual is OK -- no tennis shoes.

I would recommend making reservations at a restaurant near by -- We had a great dinner at Le Restaurant which is on Rue Veron, a couple of blocks up the street. Make a reservation for 8:00, and you will be fine.

It's a touristy kind of place, but fun.

We did the 11pm show, it was fun, some very lithe young ladies, particularly the one that swam with the pythons ! We shared a table with 2 ladies from Ecuador who were a scream! I still have there recipe for roast guinea pig in my photo album. Do not go expecting high culture or royal ballet style, its just a fun place.

Hi h,

>i'm not expecting high style ... only fun, entertainment and a taste of the past.<

In which case I recommend the Lapin Agile.

I went in April. I was pleasantly surprised. My sister begged me to go with her - I could take it or leave it. But, we had a really great time. It was fun and the champagne was the best this draft beer loving girl ever had. I liked how it was also a variety show, not just burlesque. One complaint though, even though I know you don't go there as a talent scout, at those prices the singing should be real, not lip synched.

lucygirl, I missed the lip synch. Oh, shame on me, I wasn't looking at their lips.

ira, we went to the Lapin Agile February of last year. I was really excited, thinking it would be a change of pace. We ended up walking out after about 1/2 hour.

I also recently noted while in Paris that the Lapin Agile which used to be charge free or small minimum now charges almost as much as the Moulin Rouge and other places. That seems outrageous to me. What used to be the casual "true" paris cabaret is now apparently another expensive tourist "destination". Too bad.

I attended the show before the 11 p.m. one. As noted the food is not memorable-the champagne was fine good though

Had a great seat right upclose to the stage so the pythons were a little too close for comfort for me who has a snake phobia.

But all in all it's a great variety show. All the guys-young and old-had bulging eyes. That was a sight to see!

I went in July. Loved the show! I didnt care very much for the snakes, but it was still good

The food was ok ... their wine and champagne were excellent though.

I think their dress code is NO jeans or tennis shoes.

Have fun!

I missed the snake. When I was there it was this guy wrestling an alligator in a tank of water. It was funny and obvious that the alligator was drugged.

I kept my eyes in their sockets.

I just want to warn everybody that the dinner there is really BAD, it costs a lot and all you get is way below anything I ate in Paris. The soup is from cans and not the best ones, main courses is some kind of joke, desserts are hardly eatable.

The show - I thought it is not good, tasteless and cheap, and my wife liked it a bit better. By the way, most of the show participants are from Russia. I have seen much better russian shows before.

Overall, it is plain tourist trap, crazily overpriced, we had to pay $280 for both of us. Do not spend your time and money there, Paris is such a dream place, you can always find something better than Moulin Rouge! I will post a message about another show which we saw in Paris and it was excellent - "Singing in Paris"

Budman, I'll have you know that there gator was NOT drugged. I slapped him upside the head a few times with a 2x4 prior to the curtains going up, but he was not drugged!

degas, that "splains it."

I think the general consensus was NOT to get dinner there. I'm sorry you got ripped. As I remember, it cost about $50 or so per person for the show, and you got a bottle champagne to split between the two of you. Beware if you order additional drinks -- very costly.
