Most Scenic Route (Between 2)
We are planning a tour of Christmas markets and having trouble deciding between a couple of different itineraries. Both tours have one long travel day between locations:
TOUR #1: Longest trip would be Vienna to Prague (252 miles)
TOUR #2: Longest trip would be
Oberammergau in Bavaria to Breitnau in the Black Forest (209 hours)
Since both are about 4 hours on the bus, I'd like to enjoy nice scenery along the way.
This is our first escorted tour. We've always done Europe independently, but are older now and kind of like the idea of someone helping with the luggage and transportation arrangements. We will probably skip some of the scheduled sightseeing and just poke around on our own.

Hi Barbara,
yep, 209 hours is a VERY long trip.
I suspect that both will be on main roads and the weather may not allow you to see much.
I wouldn't be choosing between the two trips on this basis alone. what are the itineraries/costs/hotel locations/meals included?
regards, ann

Barbara,
I would second what annhig said. I don't really understand your question.
I will say this. Oberammergau and the Black Forest will be very satisfying if you are looking for Christmas markets. It doesn't get any better than Germany at Christmas.
As for the scenery, it will clearly depend on the weather which of course you can not control. Vienna to Prague will be much more like driving on a US Interstate than the Bavaria to Black Forest highways you will navigate.

Iwannago,
Your answer was just what I was looking for. The tours are a toss-up in most ways as far as our interest in the towns, sights, hotel quality, etc. Both spend 2-3 nights in one place before moving on to a different location. We want to minimize the time spent on the bus, and at least were hoping for some nice scenery to relieve the boredom on the "move locations" days. I was leaning towards the Bavaria/Black Forest itinerary, and you have confirmed that it might be a slightly better driving experience. Thanks.
