Most comfortable bed in Rome

If price were not an issue, which hotel has the most comfortable beds?

If one has not stayed in all the hotels one can merely say that the bed was comfortable, not the most comfortable.

What's the best champagne in the world?

Much easier to answer as there are only a couple of dozen or so contenders, not hundreds.

Hi Diane,

Do you like soft, firm or extra-firm mattresses?

Hi Diane--it is funny that you ask this question b/c we often comment on the beds in Italy. We were there in 2000 and stayed in 3 hotels and one B&B and they *all* had the most comfortable mattresses we have ever slept on in our lives!! So much so that we sometimes ponder the idea of buying an Italian mattress, if such a purchase is possible. It cannot just be a bizarre coincidence that all the mattresses of the 4 particular places we stayed were so good. It *must* be something about the way Italians make mattresses. BTW the hotel in Rome where we stayed was the Santa Chiara, right near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.

Why, we've noticed the same thing! Every bed in Italy is wonderful!

Hey--could it be that we're just so tired at night that even concrete would feel good?

Very possibly.

HI Byrd--I don't think so b/c we are equally tired *wherever* we travel but have only had the consistent great mattress experience in Italy!!

Hmmm ! I have never had a problem sleeping in Italy as long as my lovely Susan is there next to me. We celebrate our 45th domani.

The most comfortable bed I found in Italy was at the B&B Peterson in Florence, because the mattresswas nearly knew, the room was clean and pleasant, the AC worked and it was only 60E/nite dbl.

And maybe abother reason to return: "The Search for the Perfect Bed."

My vote is for the Heavenly Beds at the uber-snotty Westin Excelsior on Via Veneto. The beds make up for the posers at the front desk.
