Monterosso Luggage Storage
I leave for Italy on Friday (so excited!). I haven't been able to locate any info in my guide books or elsewhere as to whether or not there is any baggage storage in Monterosso. Does anyone know if the Monterosso station (or anywhere else there) has a place to store luggage for the day? If not there, what about Vernazza? Thanks a bunch!

Hi samtraveler, I saw your thread earlier and tried to reach a family member who was in Monterosso for 6 months a few years ago but unfortunatly he was not available.
But I got thinking, if there is a tourist office they could advise you. But not sure if there is one or not. So, perhaps you could find a hotel that would hold the luggage for you, for a fee of course. I did leave word for my relative so if I hear from him and get any good info for you I will post back here.
I understand how excited you are feeling. I am always that way when when leaving for Italy. Can hardly sleep for days! Have a beautiful trip and let us know about your adventures after you get back home. Cin,cin.

Thanks for the effort in helping answer my question--that is very thoughtful of you. I am soooooooooooo excited! I leave tomorrow and it's all I can do to keep from doing flips across the room! I packed earlier this week and everything is set, so I just wait until tomorrow! If you get a response back, I will check this thread tomorrow. And actually I will be able to check all the way through my trip. I think the last time I'll be able to check before Monterosso is Wednesday, the 18th, so if you get info by then, please post--I would greatly appreaciate it. Thank you so much! Until tomorrow I'm dreaming of gelato, pesto, pasta and antipasti di mare!

I feel so bad that I did not pay attention to this when we were there in April. We stayed at the Hotel Villa Steno and I am sure if you e-mailed them, they would be glad to get you the info. I am also sure that you would find a hotel that would store it. I cannot find my Rick Steve's book but I think he has this info too.
Please, please eat at Gamero Rosso in Vernazza. Best meal of our trip!

Hi Sam good grief, he didn't call me and I just saw your post. I tried his cell phone but guess he has a new # & I don't have it. He is a chef in a new restaurant so I am afraid to call him there, don't want to get him in trouble with the owners.
I tried Google, but with no luck.
I am so sorry. But if I get the call I will post the info here immediately. This young man is great but not the most organized and with moving back to Portland, new job etc., imagine he is overwhelmed getting settled in.
I still think, in that Monterosso is a small town that you could get one of the hotels to keep your luggage. But hopefully the train station does have luggage. I sure wish you a beautiful trip. And will remember, you need the info before Wednesday the 18th.
Enjoy all that wonderful food, I love pesto it is so good (when made properly as they do there). Have some for me. Talk to you later.

motor_city, thanks for the restaurant tip--will look for it! Yeah, I have the Rick book, no storage info there, so maybe there isn't any (since he typically lists those kinds of things). And LoveItaly, no worries on getting back to me with the info from your friend. If you do, great, but don't worry--we'll figure something out! Thanks for your help! I'm off in 8 hours (which seems like an eternity right now

Hi Samtraveler. Well it is 10:00pm here on the west coast of the US on May 17th. Which means it is 7:00am April 18th there in Italy.
I did not forget you! My relative called me about 30 minutes ago (it then took me 30 minutes to find your thread, LOL). The bad news is that although he stayed in Monterosso for 6 months, and took the train from the station many times he never noticed whether or not the train station in Monterosso had luggage storage or not, as he never needed it.
I am so sorry that I was not able to answer your question. I do hope that you see this posting, because I do not want you to think I had forgotten about you. I sure hope you are having a wonderful time in beautiful Italy. And hope you can work out the luggage situation. Best wishes to you, and hope that you can give us a trip report when you return home. Take good care.

LoveItaly, thanks so much for your thoughtful efforts to help me figure out the luggage storage situation in Monterosso. You are very kind. I am happy to report that there IS luggage storage in Monterosso! It's right at the train station at the CT National Park Info Center. So for any wanting to know, there you have it. I just got back two nights ago and have immediately been thrust back into full-time motherhood and have yet to adjust back to EST or to catch up on sleep lost during the trip, so I am incredibly exhausted. Suffice it to say 16 gelatos (yes, per person for only 9 days
) and many, many delicious meals later we had a wonderful trip. I am already dreaming of another return trip! If I can I'll try and post a full trip report, but we are moving back to California at the end of June, so that's pretty much got me occupied right now. Ciao!
