MSM is very romantic after dark when the tourists have gone.

during the day, it's a zoo.

if you are only in the area for MSM than stay there to see what it's like after dark.

I stayed in one of the Poulard properties -- right on the ramparts. MSM is glorious as the day fades and night begins. Enjoy!!

I was glad to stay on Mont St. Michel and see it after daytrippers left.

I enjoyed kerouac's pictures of St. Malo and would hate to have to say whether I liked his pictures better than actually being in St. Malo.

Well, here are those pictures of Saint Malo, but they were taken in November 2010. This is not to say that things have changed inside the walls...

IMO There is a Relais just to the south and it would be better, more lovely, more romantic to see it from a slight distance. When you are on the island you miss that, I have done both and prefer to see with the sun setting, rather than the cramped little room on the island.
