Money?
Am traveling to Italy in March and April, 2003. How should I take money? Cash? (if so how much), traveler's checks? ATM card? Credit card? In New Zealand I took about $100 U.S. I used my credit card almost exclusively. Did get some cash from machines. It all worked very well. Can I do this in Italy?

Can I do this in Italy? Yes.

Take as much cash as you would if you were to going to Sydney for a comparable period. A few "days worth" (your own income) seems to be a common reasonable minimum. Though you might not absolutely have to take any.

Few people find travelers' checks to have nearly the appeal that they used to have.

Best wishes,

Rex
Change about $200 to euro before leaving. Then you can use the ATM's in Paris with either Cirrus or Plus logos. It's really simple to use the ATM's as there's an option in English and then it's similar to the ATM's in the US. Very convenient and no hassle with traveler's checks and going to the currency exchange and losing money on the exchange. Even with a $3 surcharge at the ATM it's worth it.
