Monet Home

We will be taking a train most of the way from Paris but is it possible to rent a bike at the nearest station and ride to Monet's home. How far?

You can rent a bike at Café du Chemin de Fer opposite the train station (€12), and follow a paved bike path (piste cyclable) that runs from near Vernon along an abandoned railroad right-of-way (figure about 30 min to Giverny). Finally, you can walk to Giverny, following the bike path, and take a bus or taxi back.

Thank You for the information on renting a bike. How much time would you allow for the home visit?

Just the house or house and gardens? A lot depends on what time you get there and how crowded it is. Rick Steves has wonderful information on how to in his Paris book.

sharonf...Just thought I would throw this out there for you. Fat Tire Bike Tours does a day trip to Monet's Gardens. I have booked this for my mother and myself on an upcoming trip. I have done other tours with them in the past and have been very pleased.
