MOLISE..new online guide

We visited two destinations in Molise in 2023, on a driving tour that began in Vietri Sul Mare and took us through Maratea, Senise, Tursi, Matera, a "country house" near Montegrosso, Vieste, Termoli, an agriturismo in rural Molise, a two -night stop on the road back to Rome, and a night in Fiumicino. (I wrote a trip report in 2023)

Italians jokingly call Molise "the region that does not exist." and the area gets very few English-speaking tourists.
We saw only a small part of Molise, but this is a good guide that might interest some of you who have already visited the well-known highlights of the south; we did not visit any of the hotels and restaurants mentioned but I do highly recommend our farm hotel not far from Termoli abandon just outside the attractive town of Larino, an area celebrated for its olive oil.

The dinner we had was wonderful, and there are specialties of Molise that I'd never even heard of, that we tried that night:

The Roman ruins in Saepinum are worth seeing if somebody is in the area. Plenty of far less complete sites around Europe get a lot more attention.

They used to be free. Rumour was they intended to charge admission but I don't know if that ever got off the ground

Thanks, Nick. So few English-speakers seem to visit this region and there is a lot to offer. Termoli was a reasonable drive from Vieste. It rained the entire time we were there but the beach is pretty and right down the stairs from the city center..
