Milan Malpensa Airport to Centrale Station to Deiva Marina

Hello to all!

Our destination is Deiva Marina (DM). We will be landing at Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). I understand that we will have to take the trenitalia from Milan to reach DM.

My question is, how do we get to the trenitalia station from MXP? Thank you all!

Also, do we have to make advance purchase for tickets at trenitalia or it's safe to buy when we arrive? I'm just worried that the trains may get fully booked.

Thank you!

Advance purchases on Trenitalia are fine, but not for R trains (more restrictions). R trains don't have any discounts or reserved seating so no point in buying in advance. The train from the airport to Milan will be an R train as well as some of the connections between Milan and Deiva Marina. Part of the route (Milan/Genoa) is an IC train which does have reserved seating. I still wouldn't buy in advance as your flight could be delayed.

You can search connections/times on Trenitalia. Either enter Malpensa aeroporto or Milano Centrale (both should start to autofill). If you want to see prices, enter a date within 7 days.

There also the Malpensa shuttle bus from the airport to the train station.

Do all by train if you land at Malpensa Terminal 1. From Terminal 2, it's easier to reach Milano Centrale railway station by bus.

I wouldn't book in advance. Trains from Milan to Genoa are very frequent. So are those from Genoa to Deiva. You may also change at Sestri instead of Genoa, according to the train. Fare Milano Centrale - Deiva 17 to 24 EUR, according to the train. Buy your ticket at the ticket machine and don't forget to stamp it before boarding the train.

You can search all of the train options here:

http://www.fsitaliane.com/homepage_en.html

Type from "Malpensa Aeroporto" and to "Deiva Marina." The first train will be from the airport into the city center (the Malpensa Express train). Look for the departures that go to "MI C.LE" (Milano Centrale). Avoid the ones that go first to "MI N CA" (Milano Nord Cadorna); otherwise, you have additional step (by metro) to change train stations in central Milan. I also wouldn't buy the tickets in advance.

Thank you so much everyone We might do all by train as suggested by neckervd since we will be landing at Terminal 1. You have all been very helpful and I will look into the websites that you have suggested. If you have any questions about Asia, I am also at your service. Thanks again!
