Milan Airport to Milan Train Station

I noticed a reply re food mentioning Milan airport being out in country. I plan air from Valencia Spain to Milan, then train to Chiusi, Italy. Any idea if airport to train in Milan is big hassle or just short taxi?

Neither. There is a bus right at the airport that takes you directly to the train station for a very nominal sum.
Hi Pat,
I agree with Joyce. Take the bus - the fare was very good and it was convenient. Taxis are very expensive in Italy.

After you exit your plane and wa;l through the Malpensa terminal, you will see signs for the bus from the airport to Milano Centrale station.(you don't want the Malpensa Express train which goes only to a different train station in Milan) Many people say the bus ride takes about 45 minutes, but when I went early one morning it took 90 minutes to get to the train station due to heavy traffic.

Pat, Which airport? Many Euro flights go into Linate not Malpensa.

-
Pat, all the responses above apply to Milan's airport called Malpensa (MXP) which is located a good distance from the city of Milan --- taxi ride would be expensive.

As Elaine has explained you do want to take the shuttle bus -- it takes you directly into Milan & stops in front of Milano Centrale (the main train station & from which you'll need to catch your train to Chiusi). I think the bus ride cost 14,000 lire (about $7 USD) --- the 'telling travel time' is 45 minutes; when i was there in October, it actually took 55 minutes so it was an easy trip into the city.

The train called 'Malpensa Express' goes into Cadorna metro stop --- NOT where you want to be to catch your connecting train on to Chiusi. For your purposes, the Malpensa Express would be a BIG hassle (either have to take taxi or the subway to get from Cadorna to Centrale.)

If you are flying into Milan's other airport, Linate, then it's located much closer to the city center. I've only gone thru MXP, so can't advise of your options from the other airport.

If it's Linate, a cab to Milano Centrale is about $10-12; don't know of any other means of transfer, tho there must be a bus or somesuch.
