Since original post have had further issue with mobility and have had to rethink my Kalambaka stop
As tours go to them (large or small bus) which would I be able to get close to with my rental car
Feel two to three monasteries would be the limit
Also how hard would the pre historic cave be
Any advise
Thanks

Very sorry to hear about your mobility problems. My next trip is on hold for similar reasons.
The issue is not just getting to the monasteries (and my taxi driver told me that in high season he often had to park a good distance away). There is also the issue of the steps up to the monastery. I only visited one where it was not necessary to trek up a bunch of steps. In the old days the monks were winched up in baskets, but I doubt that option exists any longer.
