mercure london city bankside-help Quick!

Landed a package deal for 3 nights in London and I am taking my office staff of 6. One hotel choice is the Mercure london city bankside. How is it as far as location for walking, and neighborhood safety?

I can see on a map where it is located, and my wife and I have strolled that southbank area along the river, but.....the gals we are taking are not experienced travelers.

We don't need a fancy place, as we intend to spend all of our time tromping around the city. As long as it is clean and safe.

Is it an easy walk to the riverfront?

Need help quick!!
Thanks

It's a good area, not rough and pretty touristy. The Oxo tower is there. The riverfront is a hop and a skip - a few minutes at most

What a great boss! Have any openings?

That is a fine location. Close to the river, Oxo Tower, Globe, Tate Modern, Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market and just across the river from St Pauls.

I walked past there just a few days ago, and I have to say I thought at the time it wasn't the most attractive environment for an hotel. The Mercure is in a collection of converted office buildings on a pretty busy main road, with a new building being constructed almost immediately opposite on the other side of the road. You are indeed within a few minutes walk of Tate Modern, the Globe and the cafes and restaurants around the Oxo Tower, but on the hotel doorstep there is very little to charm the eye, and unlikely to be a sense of bustle and life at night. Finding the tube station is a bit of a pain from there, but you have buses on your doorstep, especially the RV1, which you'd most likely be using a lot.

Perfectly safe, but unless you're getting a VERY good price on the hotel, you might be able to do better elsewhere. What are the other options?
