Meeting place in Siena?

We will be driving..our friend will be arriving by train or bus. We need to have a meeting spot where we can meet - preferably a comfortable place in case either is late. Where is the train/bus station located in Siena..would someplace close to that be a reasonable place to meet? She may have some luggage. Thanks.

Siena is quite small when it comes right down to it. Try the steps of the Duomo (very easy to spot) or the Palio restaraunt in the piazza where the race is held. - Luca

The train station is a little ways out of town and the bus station/stop is on the edge of the center. Do you know which she'll be arriving at? If she's arriving by train, maybe you could just meet her there with the car, otherwise she'll have to take a bus or taxi into town. Last time I was there, there weren't any taxis at the train station and we had to take a crowded bus and just guess where to get off. If she's arriving by bus, she could walk to Il Campo (isn't that the name of the main square?). There are cafes all around the edge of it and it's not so big that you couldn't just say you'd meet her there. Are you overnighting there? If so, you could just meet at the hotel.

The Duomo is NOT on the main square (actually sorta fan-shaped). One of the cafes there--and the Palio is easy to remember--would be a great place to meet and to idle away time as you wait!
