Medjugorje & Dubrovnik

Planning a trip to Medjugorje in September. Two-night stay arriving perhaps before noon from Dubrovnik. Intending to go up the apparition hill and pray the rosary. Need recommendations for other things to do in and around town in both Medjugorje and Dubrovnik. Will go for an English mass too. Appreciate accommodation and dining recommendations. Will parking be a concern?

I can help with Dubrovnik. For sightseeing, in addition to walking the walls, there is War Photo Limited, which is an exhibition of a collection of photos of the war in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990's. There is also a temporary exhibit (which changes periodically) on a different floor.

We also visited the Franciscan Monastery, and we took the cable car to the top of Mt. Srd for drinks and stunning views.

For lodging, we loved staying at Karmen Apartments. Some favorite restaurants are Taj Mahal (Bosnian food) and Kopun (fresh fish and shellfish).

In addition to the places KarenWoo mentions in Dubrovnik, consider the Cathedal, Dominican Monastery, visit to Lokrum Island. or visit to Trsteno Arboretum. And stop in the Buza Bar.

Do you have a good guidebook? The Rough Guide is particularly good for Croatia.

Thanks for the insights. I have noted them down. Would you have any idea what I can expect in Medjugorje?

I don't have any insights into Medjugorje; I didn't visit it. Have you checked the guide books at your local library?

I agree with kja about getting some good guidebooks, if you haven't done so already. I used Rough Guides and Fodors for Croatia. I have not been to Bosnia so I can't help with Medjugorje.
