Sign me up, flygirl.
Tod: We've dined at Mon Viel Ami. It has a very chic and modern ambience and the food is delicious. EJ

Hi flygirl, sorry we're going to miss you.
To all those who are available, I'm looking forward to meeting you.
CW, you're not going to try to organize another tattoo expedition are you?

Tod,

I checked the restaurant you mentioned and I think may be too modern for ou tastes. We would prefer a typical Parisian place.

Here are a few that Louisa and I are interested in:

Perraudin
Au Bougnat
Les Relais de L'Entrecote

Let me know if any of these are okay.

Bookmarking...is that going to anger people?

I'll be in Paris, arriving the 23rd and departing the 31st. Will keep an eye on this thread.

Monica, I was doing a search of Paris dining threads the other day and came up with yours from a few years ago where one poster suggested you were a frump and another insinuated you were a prostitute. Good times.

I agree. The interior design is too modern for my taste also but after reading a report from the restaurant blog attached to that link I sent - I got curious. It got a rave revue especially about the vegetables they serve. I love my veg and miss that part of a meal in most bistros etc....... Potatoes seem to be the only thing they like serving!

I have never been to any of those three you mention.
What does a three course dinner run at? (exl. wine).

Les Relais de L'Entrecote doesn't seem suited to sitting and visiting which I assume is part of a GTG. My memory of dinner there was an enjoyable meal served rather quickly and a line of hungry potential diners waiting for a table.....not the usual relaxed Parisian meal at all.

Hi again,
Just took a peek at those restaurants mentioned.
The one that looks good to me is Au Bougnat on L'Ille de Cite` - actually glad you mentioned it as we will be staying at Hopitel-Hotel Dieu! How convenient is that!

monica and tod, Au Bougnat sounds fine to me, even though I haven't done my research on it yet. Our apartment is in the 6th near Fontaine Saint Michel so the location is good for us.

Leely, I'm glad you found this thread because I know you were following the other one started by Rosie--by the way, have we lost Rosie somewhere in Fodorville

If we meet on the 23rd we can certainly fill the time talking about what we've seen and done during our varied travels--always fun to hear. Deborah

Leely, it's okay to bookmark on this thread, no worries about angering anyone. I remember that other thread you mentioned and it was pretty ridiculous. I've known Monica for a long time and those descriptions were beyond ridiculous as you quickly figured out. Anyway, I hope you can join us.
Tod and DebraAnn, I'm glad you like Au Bougnat. I talked to Monica and I think it will be a good choice. Once we determine how many there will be, we can make reservations.

Au Bougnat sounds great as we will be renting an apartment on Il St. Louis. We are 3 sisters who will be kicking up our heels (well to be honest, our orthopedic shoes!) in Paris for 3 weeks. Would love to meet others. We will be in Paris from 5/6 - 5/24.

Hi

Since this post might get some attention, I may as well add to it now (I'll start another one later...)

Dad and I should be able to meet up for dinner in Paris May 31 and June 1. If anyone reading this is arriving later in the month and wants to try for another GTG, let me know! We will be in Normandy later that week (specifically for the anniversary of the landings...)

Hi flygirl, my husband and I would enjoy meeting on either the 31st or 1st of June. Both are holidays, as I understand, Whit Sunday/Monday, so we would definitely need reservations. EJ

Hello Monica,
It will be Tod & Peter at the GTG.

You have attended more GTG's than a lot of us but may I just suggest it might be prudent to ask the restaurant when booking the table if they can handle a large party quite comfortably, UNLESS you have eaten there before and know how they control things. The reason I bring this up is because we found at one of our GTG's the smallish restaurant we chose served our food in fits & starts as they were attending to the needs of their other diners.
It put us off slightly as no-one likes to see their food go cold while waiting for more dishes to arrive out of the kitchen. What have you experienced in past GTG's?

Also, I do hope folks that say they're going to come, do actually pitch. We were left with 4 seats vacant at our last GTG.

Hi Tod,

Of course I plan to contact the restaurant and see if they can accommodate a large group.

Yes, I have been to many GTGs. In fact, I hosted the very first one back in 1999. You can read about it here: http://luvtotravel.homestead.com/fodoritescorner.html.

I've never had problems with the restuarants itself (or slow service of the food), but I've had problems where people didn't pay their fair share and others had to make up the difference. This has never been with any fodorite GTGs. I expect these two GTGs in Paris will be successful as the others. It does make things easy if everyone brings cash. It seems that many restaurants don't like to give separate checks.

Haven't had problems with any fodorites not showing up after they said they would.

I will toss this out, for whatever it might be worth.

I will be in Paris from April 15 to May 13. Unfortunately I will not be available for your GTG on May 9th. Anyone interested in adding another GTG?

This might be getting too involved....

So sorry but I need to delete our names from the Feb. 23 GTG as it turns out we will be flying out that day. So sorry.

Oh bummer...we arrive on May 10! We'll just miss you all on the 9th. And we leave on the 23 so we'll miss the late group as well. Maybe next time.
