May Bank Holiday - London
I’m currently planning a trip to England the first 2 weeks of May 2022. I’d planned to leave for London on Sun May 1st, putting my arrival actually on Monday the 2nd, but I’ve just learned this is a bank holiday. What should I should I expect? Is it something I should consider changing my travel dates for? I’m afraid the terrific hotel deal I snagged will not be valid for new dates.

In London you really won't be affected much if at all. Tourist attractions will be more crowded because lots of local families will also be in the mix. But that won't really have much impact on you since its your arrival day and you'll probably be jet lagged and won't be hitting any major sites that day.
I wouldn't give an extra thought.

Public transport will be running to Sunday timetables, but you won't really notice any great gaps or delays. Likewise some cafés and restaurants might choose not to open, but not enough to leave you short of choice. Plus, the first May Bank Holiday has been known to have indifferent weather, so a rest day indoors might be welcome.
On the other hand, if there's a post-Covid bounce-back, it might be all bunting and frolic. Hard to know.
