May Bank Holiday
We have managed to avoid the May bank holidays during our previous trips to the UK, but I think we will be there for May 6th this year. In searching the archives, I see that trains and transportation may be a problem. Janis made a statement that London is less affected than other places. If we were in London on that day, would we just be walking around looking at buildings from the outside, or are there any museums (my favorite activity) open? Thanks!

May bank holiday is affected three ways, more local tourists out and about (which increases accom prices), train timetables tend towards Sunday patterns (and can be worse with any engineering works) and finally smaller venues and shops might close. Apart from that no real effect.

If you are in London that day you won't notice anything except the crowds at the Tower and Natural History Museum and British Museum might be a bit bigger because families will be visiting. But those venues are ALWAYS crowded. It will be pretty much a non-issue
