i have found that almost all of my dining choices are closed that day. a few that are open:
allard (i have dinner reservations here)
all the flo restaurants (thanks karen from bonjour paris!)
brasserie d ille st louis
thought this my be helpful for those of you that will be there too. i was really surprised to find out that so many are closed.

When you work in France on May 1st, you must be paid double salary AND you receive a compensatory day off. Add to that the additional doubling of the evening work premiums, and you will understand why Labor Day in France is truly a day of rest.
This year, I myself will have a chance to cash in because it looks like I will be forced to work in Cairo on that day, but since I have a French contract, yay!

A lot of people eat out? Maybe for a backyard barbecue. With Mother's Day, Father's Day and all that other stuff, they already have too many occasions to go to a restaurant at that time of year.

Oops. We'll be in Amboise on that date. Do you suppose that hotel restaurants are open?
