Marijuana in season?
I've been wanting to go to Amsterdam for a while now, and was hearing from some people that they call the best time to get pot there is called the 'high season'. Since I haven't been there, could anyone help me with this?

and No, I'm not putting my real email address because i know it's illegal to smoke it here, but it should be ok to ask about since it's something many people do in Holland.

I've been in March/April, August, and November and there was a plentiful supply at all times. Lots is indoor grown and the hash is from various countries so it doesn't really matter all that much it seems to me. See http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/Frames.shtml

There is no "high season" for marijuana. There is a plentiful supply of the "stuff" all year round. Many Americans come to Amsterdam for the so-called "Cannabis Cup" which is an event in November around American Thanksgiving. It is organised by an American magazines called "High Times". Locals stay away from this event because prices are higher for the Cannabis Cup events.

I can't believe how hypocritical some of you are. This board is filled with posts advising people to experience local culture and leave their personal homestyle preferences at home. I personally have never smoked marijuana and don't really intend to, but I think this is a totally legitimate question.
Since it is a common pasttime in Amsterdam, and apparently it is something High Times wants to experience it seems perfectly logical this is the place to ask such a question. To me it is no different from asking where to get Haggis in Scotland, or where to get the best gelato in Rome. If you don't want to partake, then skip over this question.
Sorry High Times I can't help you, but go for it!!

I was actually surprised that there was only one nasty post, from Seamus, on this thread. Maybe there's hope yet, for both civility on this board, and our attitude toward marijuana and people who choose to enjoy it.

The Netherlands, unlike the U.S., seems to have learned the lesson of Prohibition: prohibiting a drug -- whether it's alcohol or marijuana -- that a lot of people want to use -- does not work. Well, OK, it does "work" in the sense that the U.S. gets to throw a lot of people in prison and this, apparently, makes a lot of people -- politicians and others -- feel very good. But it doesn't work to stop people from using it.
