Tenerife has a HUGE Mardi Gras celebration. It's said to be second only to Brazil.

<freezing your *^&%$ off...

Actually, not everyone is freezing their ass off ( she says as she sits in the sun in a t-shirt and shorts) in Europe.

I have found the Spanish are the biggest party people in Europe.....especially in Andalucia. We are in a very tiny of village with barely 1000 people and I was stunned by the extraordinary carnival experience here last year.

It was mind blowing and so much fun. I do not know where they get all the money for it and put on some amazing shows. We watched in T shirts!

I agree though, carnival is a lot more fun in sun and warmth!

Tenerife sounds great. Sun, sand, beach and revelry (great!) That's the only celebration that I think I would do in Europe for Mardi Gras. For me, it's usually either Rio or New Orleans, but I would consider the Canary Islands (Tenerife).
