bkluvsNola - Yes Im American, but am already in Europe (came here after my stay in Kenya was cut short), but otherwise would take you up on that. There is always next year...and maybe by then I will have finished thawing.

Actually, not everyone is freezing their ass off ( she says as she sits in the sun in a t-shirt and shorts) in Europe.
I have found the Spanish are the biggest party people in Europe.....especially in Andalucia. We are in a very tiny of village with barely 1000 people and I was stunned by the extraordinary carnival experience here last year.
It was mind blowing and so much fun. I do not know where they get all the money for it and put on some amazing shows. We watched in T shirts!
I agree though, carnival is a lot more fun in sun and warmth!

Tenerife sounds great. Sun, sand, beach and revelry (great!) That's the only celebration that I think I would do in Europe for Mardi Gras. For me, it's usually either Rio or New Orleans, but I would consider the Canary Islands (Tenerife).
