Malta or Crete at Christmas?

Has anyone been to Malta or Crete for Christmas? If so, is it really crowded, or shut down, how's the weather, etc? Thanks!

Malta's great at Christmas !Weather is fine, may even be sunny. Note that Orthodox religious feasts are celebrated on a different day from ours.

We were in Crete in December 2000 on a cruise. Weather was comfortably warm with a jacket. Oudoor cafés had these cool propane heaters similar to those you see in San Francisco in the summer for evening dinig. Definitly not beach weather. The market in Heraklion is a treat!
