I want to to blend in, I don't want anyone to know I even exist.

Later,

The waiter ignored me.

I have 15 minutes to transfer to my Ryanair flight at an airport 90 miles away. Will I have enough time?

Can I still use my francs and lira from my last trip or do I have to get some of those eurodollars?

I arrive in Germany on Dec 24 and want to see some of those Christmas markets.

Does (insert city on the Mediterranean) close down for the winter?

These are hilarious. I have been reading them aloud to my DH (we both work from home) and we have been rolling around laughing like mad. There are too many favorites to pick one.

Here are some that have occured to me?

"Is the Vatican worth the time and trouble?"

"Should I ride on a gondola if I get boat sick?"

"How do I book a train from Rome to Florence on the trenitalia site?"

"Is parking a rental car difficult in Naples?"

"When is Vesuvius going to erupt again? I want to go to Naples and I want to plan around that"

"If I am in Italy, do I have to eat the pasta? I am on a diet"

"What kind of clothing should I pack for (insert any place here). I am a conservative farmer/liberal artist/preacher/college student/overweight couch potato.
(No concern for where they are going or what the climate is - but instead they are hung up on who 'they' are when they are at home)

"I hate to walk. Can I see the a) Forum in Rome b) Delphi in Greece c) Ostia Aticha d) the Great Wall of China or e) Machu Piccu from the windows of a cab?

Hilarious. You people made my day by reminding all of us regulars of the lunacy that happens when people plan trips.

I love Fodor's!!!

I am trying to make phone reservations at the Uffizi.

I call them every afternoon at 2:00 and get a recording in Italian.

What's happening?

Answer:
Have you tried calling when it is daytime in Florence?

Hotel xyz - have you stayed there?

"No" would be a correct answer to this question, wouldn't it?

we are very experienced travelers, we are foodies,we planned this trip for months: researched libraries and the Net, read every guide book ever written about.......

when we got to ..... we found out:
the museums were closed on Mondays, the food served in dept. store cafeterias was not delicious, and , OMG, Europeans smoke in bars!
