Just returned from gorgeous Salamanca to Madrid.


Thank you kja for suggesting a 2 night stay
Hotel NH Palacio de Castillianos was perfect ...location, room, service.

The old town is one of the most beautiful I have seen - day and (all lit up )at night.
ALIVIA train from Madrid takes 1:36 ..several times a day ( fewer trains weekends)
The train stops only in Segevia.
Taxi from the train station to the old town is 4-5 euros.
I guess one could make it a(very long) day trip. ..
