Lunch in San Gimignano!

Anyone got any suggestions for lunch in San Gimignano?

We'd love to have enough time to stay there overnight, but we don't and will be passing through at lunchtime, so looking for suggestions!

first of all parking is a real problem there so you might do better to eat outside of the town...there are a number of places....you will not be able to drive into the town but will have to park way outside in one of the tourist parking areas unless you are staying in a town hotel and they will allow you to drop off your bags only...

sorry

While you do have to park outside the town walls, it's just a short walk into the town. Whether you eat in town or not, you will want to walk around and see it, so you'll need to park anyway, right?

We have enjoyed La Mandragola restaurant on several occasions.

Ristorante Perucà is one we liked very much. It's a small and cozy restaurant situated in the renovated wine caves of an ancient palazzo within the city walls. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in explaining what was on the menu (and what I couldn't find in my dictionary). It was one of the few places that had fish (sea bass and swordfish) on its menu.
They have a huge wine list and they do the full wine ceremony.
Address: Via Capassi 16, 53037 San Gimignano

Sounds to me like rhkkmk has never been there. There is a parking area below the town gates on the right as you approach and also another to the left of the town gate. If you are seeking a light lunch go to Gustavo Enotica in the town or even if just for a glass of wine, the couple who own it are lovely and speak quite good english.

If you go there (drive)this time of year and arrive after 10am,there is a major problem with parking. We went to Perugia for lunch and then to San Gimignano after the tour buses (and much of the crowd)left at about 3pm. If noons the only time you can make it,park as soon as you arrive on the bottom of the hill (a little shopping strip) to save the time driving around the city.
