Luggage lockers in German Rail Stations
Is there a link on the bahn.de website where I can find out more info on the train stations that we will be travelling through on our visit to Germany?
We need to stash luggage a few times on our trip, and there are a few 1/2 hour layovers between trains, so it would be nice to know where the toilets are and what other services are available (food, news/book stand, etc). The Dutch rail site has links to each of their stations, complete with maps. I just can't seem to find the same info on bahn.de
Is there a magic link? Peace, Robyn

Hi artstuff,
I don't know of any link to individual stations (must be thousands . . .); maybe someone else might know.
But I can assure you that German rail stations are very easy to navigate and have lots of services. The toilettes are designated as "WC," and you can find them easily with signs that say "WC" with an arrow. However, I would advise you to use the facilities on the train when you can as they'll probably be cleaner.
And even the smallest stations have coin-operated lockers. I spent a month in Mittenwald, whose station doesn't have a clerk or agent but which does have coin-op lockers.
Good luck!

Swanday: I'm assuming that you live in Germany. Would you say that the Schliessfaecher are standard in every German train station? Is there a way to find out in advance whether a station has it or not? I may need the storage box in Lubben or Lubbenau for this coming Easter. Have you ever been there?

You can find a listing of services at http://tinyurl.com/2mvmpa (in German, but the key elements are symbolic). There are maps of the larger stations at http://www.bahnhof.de, Click on the region (Im Norden, etc.), then the station name, and then Bahnhofsplan.

Swanday: You seem to know so much about Switzerland & Germany. Now that you mentioned it, I should have guessed it from the fact that you spent a month holiday in Mittenwald since a German resident would probably go further south if they have a month off.
Paul: Thanks for the very handy links for my next trip in April.

HELP! For almost two years I have been using the "tinyurl" link that sanschag (Paul) provided, to access a web page that gave symbol descriptions of the services availabe at every rail station on de Bahn system. It was a GREAT site for planning. Now the link is gone!!!
Can anyone help me find a new link to this information?
