Lucerne to Lake Como

Going to spend 2 nights in Lucerne in June before driving down to Como for 2 nights. Any suggestions as to route and what sights/stops along the way; restaurant suggestions in Lucerne and Como would be appreciated as well.

We went from Lake Como (Varenna), to Chiavenna by train. Then by post bus to St. Moritz where we got another train. Then on to Zurich. Don't know if you'd have to go to Zurich before you go to Lucerne. This is a gorgeous route, especially Chiavenna to St. Moritz which goes through the Engandine Alps. Places to stop include Soglio, an lovely little village in a spectacular setting. Great hiking trails abound. We didn't love St. Moritz (very modern and glitzy), but am glad I got to see it.
