Judy,

Although I have not stayed there yet, and it is not IN Lucerne itself, I have been very impressed with the communication I have received from Hotel Albana in Weggis (on the other side of Lake Lucerne). I am staying there next week. I'll be back September 12, though that is probably too late for a report to help you.

I have PREVIOUSLY stayed at Hotel Schweizerhof which is possibly the premier location in Lucerne (at a very premium price). Worth it? so-so. Bargains? I doubt it.

Best wishes,

Rex

I don`t know about weekend deals, but my wife and I stayed at des Alpes in June and had a good experience. Yes, the location is terrific. We had a room with patio overlooking the roofs of the Alt Stadt for 190 Sfr., inc. breakfast, taxes, etc. We were originally booked at the Tourist Hotel(134 Sfr.), but moved out after 1 night because of the noise.
