-
Myer,

Checking in to find out status on your "URL project". I did see the other thread you posted a few weeks ago providing an update; at that time you'd said that the list had been culled down to about 400. So, have you had opportunity to verify sites and come up with a good master list?
I have a great booklet titled "300 Incredible Things for Travelers on the Internet" by Ken Leebow. It lists 300 web sites that will help you research and plan trips. A glance at the table of contents shows the following categories: Travel First Class; In the Air, on Land and Sea; O, Beautiful, for Spacious Skies; It's Not Such a Small World; Trip Prep; Sleep, Eat and Drink; Attractions, Resorts and Adventures; and, Travel Media and Resources.

I found it in the travel section of my local Barnes and Noble bookstore.

MIND LAPSE --- http://turismo.regione.veneto.it website is only for the VENETO region of Italy and that includes Venice, Verona, Padua. Guessing they may have a similar site for other major regions like Tuscany (Toscana), but haven't figured out the exact URL yet.

Myer, when you finish cataloging, would you post your finished work for those of us who just plain can't get to it? Just wondering?

I can't believe this post has been resurrected. What a computer disaster that was. Good timing as I just purchased a new computer this week and finished transfering all of my files last night.

Funny thing. I never really totally updated my list.

I just gather as I go for each trip.

Since then we've been to Italy (Rome,Sorrento,etc)/London, Spain and just returned (2 weeks ago) from Prague/Budapest/Brugge/Amsterdam (you can see my trip report by searching under my name or any of the cities) (Still reviewing over 600 digital photos).

Getting the itch to start looking at the next one. Maybe Tuscany and Umbrian towns. Been to Italy 5-6 times but never to the towns.

This thread was a godsend! My computer crashed in May and I lost everything. Like a dummy I had no back-ups of course. I had pages and pages (mostly intriguing boutique hotels etc) of info I've gleaned here. I was afraid I would have to be a pest and ask my questions all over again. I'm just going to be kind of quiet and let everyone else ask! Thank you all for the websites.

Do you have Winzip?

If so - open your windows explorer (file manager)
Find the file for 'Favorites'
Righ-click on the folder, choose "Zip and Email Favorites.zip"
That will open a new email with your favorites file as an attachment - send it to yourself if you have a webmail account (like [email protected]).
Then, should your computer implode in the future, you can at least replace those favorites you had mailed to yourself at that time. (by extracting them using Winzip and saving to your hard-drive).

Remain on the Italian page (the English page will bring you back to the Italian again). Here's your cheat sheet on how to pull up a list of "Alberghi".
