Walk towards the Forum des Halles (west) past the Pompidou Center. There are two McDonalds and a KFC, plus a Pizza Hut. If you like French fare, there's a Flunch as well (although it might be closed due to work on the Forum). Plenty of other restaurants in the area, including a few Subways, ethnic restaurants, and other places that serve light meals. In the Marais itself, the rue des Archives has a lot of restaurants (as do other streets). The rue des Rosiers has some places to eat, and they're kosher as well. Restaurants on the south side of the Marais around the rue St. Paul, too. Lots and lots of choices.

I don't see any "snarky" posts here. It is a bit surprising that someone could be in Paris and not find anything to eat. I think a few people were taken aback by that bit. Especially when the OP says he or she likes chicken and potatoes/beef and potatoes. You can get that practically everywhere. If you don't like sauce, ask for no sauce.
I don't think simple is a universal term, either. Many people might consider kidneys simple but I'd bet that's not something the OP wants to eat. Sounds like the OP is looking for familiar foods prepared in ways familiar to him/her. Not a big deal, but his/her simple might be someone else's greasy/fattening/too carb-heavy, etc.

I ate here at L'Osteria kinda behind Place des Vosges when I was staying nearby once. Good, nothing fancy (according to my tastes), nice friendly staff. Not a destination but you might consider it if you're looking for more Italian close to your apartment.
L'Osteria
10 rue de Sévigné

I agree with PatrickLondon about the cafe in the Petit Palais. Very relaxing place to sit and snack.

I don't know, I think beingtold your OP sounds like a joke or is trollish is a little snarky. She didn't say she couldn't find anything, she just asked for suggestions. You can't always tell what your getting from the looks of a restaurant alone so asking for suggestions is a great thing. We ate at a cute little place in the Quartier Latin on our first night, and the French Onion soup tasted like dishwater. I wish I had asked for suggestions that night!

We frequent the following - we stay at Hotel de Nice on the west edge of the Marais on R. Rivoli acroos the street from Plsace Baudoyer:
Equinox - R. des Rosiers - inexpensive 3-courses usually quite good.
Pizza Sant'Antonio - 1, rue de la Verrerie - very good pizza and salads (especially Nicoise) at great prices.

Since I have traveled to the south of France, I just want to know if the offer of " Le menu" is the same in the Parisienne cafe?
Depending on the courses the offer,of cheese selection increases?
