Hi ellene
by no means an expert but have travelled out to Barcelona several times over the last few months
basically you have two choices heading north for the Costa Brava where although I've never been I have heard good things about the resort of Tossa del Mar or else south ...first thought could be south to Sitges ..a very 'cosmopolitan' resort popular with Barcelona natives about 40 minute south ...its got a nice beach and probably some decent hotels or else where we went this last October further south (about 2hrs drive) to the resort of Peniscola in the Costa del Azahar ..you'll need to do your own research regarding what hotel you'd like to stay in http://alevante.com/en/hotelhosteriadelmar/...try that link

There is another thread mentioning Sitges and Cadaques, although not specific hotels. People who have answered that thread may know of hotels, though.

The following recommendations are from your post of tripadvisor.

If price were no consideration, then the Hostal de la Gavina would be your first choice if you want to rub elbows with the rich and famous.

5-star Rigat Park Hotel (68 kms up the coast from Barcelona)
5-star Hostal de la Gavina, Plaza del Rosedar (Girona)
5-star RA Beach Thalasso Spa Hotel (Tarragona)
4-star Hotel Aigua Blava. Fornells beach (Platja)

You can also check out the following web site. You should find it useful.

We very much enjoyed Hostel de la Gavina last summer. It is a beautiful place. The service is spectacular as is the setting. The beaches nearby are very nice andthe area mainly caters to wealthy Barcelonians and other Spaniards and the French. The villas around the hotel are amazing.
