Hi Debbie,

My first advise and I say this with kindness is to rephrase you title. Something more along the lines of "Italy in June Itinery Questions/Suggestions"

Second thing I see IMHO is it seems like too many places for a 2 week trip, are you set on seeing & staying in all of these cities? With the number of people you are traveling with that's a lot of packing unpacking and get up and going going going.

I'll leave it to the experts here for other suggestions...

Much luck! Eileen

Thistledew: Too many stops in too short a time, especially traveling with a group of 11 (that will be cumbersome and slow you down no matter how you plan this). Personally, with a group that big I'd rent a large villa for a week in Tuscany and make ONE other stop for the rest of the time in either Rome or Venice (my vote would be for the latter).
I do hope you don't plan on wandering around en masse for the whole vacation. I can tell you from experience with even smaller groups, it doesn't work. Someone's always got to go to the bathroom, someone's out of money and needs to go to the bank, someone else wants to hit the Post Office, someone wants to sleep in, someone takes too long getting ready in the morning - you'll get NOTHING done. Rent at least two cars and split up and meet for dinners or back at the villa.

With that itinerary you will be moving 11 people every other day.

Stay in one area, i.e., either Lake Como and Venice OR Rome, Capri, and AC OR Tuscany and Florence. Will you be renting a house or staying in hotels? A house seems a better bet with 11 people.

Start by deciding what type of vacation all of you want, city or country or one week in each. Do you like a lot of museums, churches, and activity packed days or do you prefer to drive around to small towns and have a more leisurely time.

Also, take a look at a map of Italy and see how far these places are from one another. That will put your plans in more perspective.

My favorites of your choices are Venice and Tuscany for the beauty of both places.

As far as getting around, a minivan would be the best bet in rural areas; public transportation in cities.

Refine your plans a bit and then come back with more questions.
