Longshot Question - Rome Sandwich Shop
OK... this is a real longshot but I thought one of you Rome experts might be able to help.
About 10 years ago, a group of us were in Rome. We found a really neat sandwich shop on a bit of a back alley (not too far from the wedding cake, if I remember).
We found it totally by accident and were drawn to it by the gaggle of motor scooters parked out front. The place basically consisted of a deli-type counter where a bunch of people were making sandwiches (basically you just pointed to a couple of meats, some marinated veggies, cheese, etc. and they slapped it on focaccia and wrapped it in paper). One wall of the place was lined with tons of bottles of water of various brands and stacks of paper cups. The water was included in the price of the sandwiches (which were dirt cheap). There was very little room inside, so many people either took the sandwiches with them or at them on the street.
Ring any bells with anyone?

Think you might have been at Lo Zozzone, just off the piazza Navona?

Zeppole - thanks for the response... interesting place, but I don't think it's the one I was thinking about.
I'm going to go dig thru my photos from the trip to see if I have anything taken in the area that will give me a better clue.
