LondonWalks vs. Ipod Walks

The LondonWalks look like a great thing with lots of options and they've gotten good feedback on the threads here that I've noticed. Has anyone out there had any experience with the Free Walks for Ipods? The advantage would be they're free, un-scheduled, and un-crowded! but no guide to ask questions of. What say you all?

I've enjoyed a number of London Walks but have had to give them up -- the pace is just too quick for my failing knees. The Ipod walks might be a good alternative.

I agree VirginiaC. The last walk we went on we didn't get to hear a thing. I have bad knees and my husband had bronchitis. By the time we got to the guide it was time to go to the next place. We did the Oxford/Cotswold Explorer Day.

Since then we've sworn off London Walks and just do it ourselves with a guide book.

The Ipod walks sounds interesting.

I used an Ipod tour once in Rome. I think they're cool and helpful. But, I prefer the personal interaction with the fantastic guides with LondonWalks. I think it just depends on your interests. You can always try out your Ipod free walks for ease and freedom and show up for any LondonWalks you might foresee an actual guide being of more service. You likely won't find the huge variety of tours with the Ipod Free Walks. So, maybe do a mix of both? Enjoy! Missy

I haven't been on the walks provided by this link

http://londonwalks.libsyn.com/

so I can't recommend them personally but there are dozens of them--not as varied as the London Walks but seem to cover many of the same areas. Between the 2 sources, I think we'll be able to see whatever we want and have time for!

thanks all-
