I will be in London only for 2-3 days-- what guidebooks/maps do you like? This is spur of the moment-- I leave in a couple weeks, and we added a few days before we head to Barcelona to visit friends. We will do some of the big touristy things, but would like some out of the way finds too, and of course, a good pub crawl! Not much into the museum thing, and we will probably take a bus ride out to Stonehenge too.

Under Destinations here on fodors.com, there is a "best for 5 days" schedule for London that you can pick and choose from.

For other things, you might try the search box, for example, with <pub +London> (without the arrows).

The Time Out guides are generally good on more out-of-the-way suggestions. Since they are published in London, you might pick up a copy there.

If I recall correctly, some of the recent posts here about seeing Stonehenge have been rather critical...

I'm very partial to the Eyewitness Travel Guides from DK publishing.

i like the AAA Spiral guides. breaks up the city into manageable chunks. also like the dk top 10 series.

If you plan to do the usual stuff like Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc., then I agree about getting an Eyewitness Guide. Their overview pictures and "maps" are great and will act as a super tour guide for you at the actual places. The also map out some good walking tours in easy to follow format.

I'd think you can get all the information you want or need from here regarding pubs, restaurants, etc.

forgot, i opted to go to cambridge over stonehenge. and cambrigde is one of the most beautiful schools i've ever seen and nice town. u could also go punting on the river cam.
