I understand where you are coming from JanisJ, but we certainly didn't plan on seeing MT as a priority, and I sure as heck would not recommend this couple's doing ANYTHING that was a priority when their eyes are at half mast and when their upcoming 9-10 days is so tight.
So that's precisely why I'm floating the MT idea ONLY for jetlag day.
When we saw it, it was sort of a jetlag day for us. We had been out since early morning at Windsor Castle, toured and picnicked at Eton, etc and were really tired. The wind had picked up, rain was coming down, and we found ourselves accidentally huddled outside MT. We looked at each other and said, "Hey, why not?" So it happened to give us a second wind on a long touring day.
I was also going to suggest their hopping on the Big Bus down there to get a city overview, but since I always fall asleep in two seconds on those things after overseas flights, I thought better of it.
I do hope they consult the Big Bus link map because it really does give a good visual of sights, etc that they might want to do nearby via that Tube route. That way if they need to crash, they know they can get back to the room ASAP.

You can do much the same with TfL visitor guide and map of attractions and bus routes.
