Starspinners, Thanks so much for your impressions of the "Distinctly Different" London walk, now I think I will reconsider whether I really want to take it. We've already visited the Wellington Arch, last year - it's covered on the Great British Heritage Pass which I've purchased for this trip too, so that part won't cost me extra if I do go.

It's been 6 or 7 years since I've been to London. I was travelling alone on business and found them to be quite good. I didn't do the Jack the Ripper tour.
LynnieD asked about museum tours. I did a tour of the British Museum and enjoyed it. It gave a good overview and then I spent time on my own to explore more in depth.
For anyone not familiar with the "Original London Walks" company their web site is: http://london.walks.com/
I'd also highly recommend their explorer days. I did a day trip to Oxford and was given a very inside look. We were given free time for lunch and I took in the Ashmolean museum.
