London Train 2-for-1 Offers

I found these offers at http://www.london2for1.com/2for1/voucher.asp

Do EuroStar tickets qualify? Are they London Train tickets?

I'm not sure about EuroStar, but London Underground tickets work. We did this in March and it was a great deal.

Carmen, if you use the underground once, do your ticket stubs then work for each 2-for-1 voucher you use? Or do you need a new ticket stub for each voucher? It does look like a good deal. And given the prices and the exchange rate, every little bit will help.

It may depend on whether the ticket is for the day you use your voucher, but I couldn't say for sure. For example, I used the same underground ticket for two attractions on the same day.

As far as I can tell, there is no information on the site as to exactly how the deal works. Do you need a ticket for the same day? Do you need multiple tickets for multiple people, etc. Do you need an unused ticket or a is a used ticket OK. They don't specify. I had assumed that I would take the Southern train in and use that ticket for the entire stay.

So you question probably has no answer.

BTW I have heard some people say, however, that that didn't even both with the tickets but simply accept the voucher. No ticket was actually necessay.

I went to London in March and printed out a few 2 for 1 vouchers ahead of time. Took the Gatwick express into London and used that ticket stub for all the vouchers since it was a return ticket.
Most of the people did not even want to see the train ticket, just took the vouchers. So if you take the Southern train in you can use that the whole stay.

Thanks for your help. I've printed the vouchers and will give them a try. Any discounts will help in London!

My experience was that they DID ask for the tickets. So be prepared.

We used the 2 for 1 voucher at Kensington Palace on April 22, 2005; we did have to show our train tickets and our Gatwick Express tickets satisfied the requirement.

Just wanted to let people who are travelling to London this winter and spring know that these offers are available through the end of May 2006.

Now that phoning between US/UK is so cheap, why not call the rail enquiry line and check with them?
0044 8457 484950 from europe or 011 44 8457 484950 from US should work.

Each offer lists the rail and/or underground station nearest to the attraction. The London Underground is considered as part of the rail system with these offers.

i have used these offers many times and the last one or two times they requested to see the ticket. it does need to be the same day's ticket but as i and others have experienced, enforcement is not even.

if you don't take the train to the attraction, i would still try. either flash another day's ticket or just say you forgot to keep it...worth a try but be prepared to pay full price.

I would like to know from Dorothy or anyone who knows: how do you know the offers are good through May of 2006? I checked the website and none of the offers appear to be good after the 8th of January. I'm going in May so I'd really like to know. Thanks.

We used the tickets in Feb. of this year at St. Paul's and they did ask to see the rail passes. We had a four day rail pass.

My sister and I used the 2 for 1 vouchers last month at Kensington Palace and Apsley House. We had our train ticket with us but were not asked to produce them, we just filled out the form in the brochure. This is a great way to save in London - its very expensive! The 2 for 1 brochures seem to be available at all stations.

In regards to Martha T's post, since she bought a roundtrip ticket (Gatwick Express-Victoria) did that ticket qualify for using the 2for1 offers the entire time you were in London (even though they say you have to have a train ticket for the same day as the 2for1 vouchers)??

Thanks for the help.

My apologies. I thought I saw a mention of the offers being valid through May; however, it appears that they are only valid through January 8, 2006.

The offers are still a real bargain, none the less.

Just wanted to post an update. We were in London this past weekend (November 24 through November 27, 2005) and used our 2 for 1 voucher at kensington Palace. A couple in front of us also used one. Neither of us were asked to show a train ticket. We paid 11.5 pounds for admission for two instead of 23 pounds. Addmission included the audio tour of the palace, the special exhibition of Princess Diana's photo session and dresses, and the guided tour of Princess Margaret's apartments. The guided tour was only offered at 11:00, 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 and was limited to 20 people; you are able to visit the kitchen and drwaing room only on the guided tour. We arrived at 11:45 so we proceeded directly to the tour assembly area and were number ten and eleven to get tickets. After the tour, we returned to the starting spot for the audio tour and viewed items at our leisure.
