London to Cornwall
Hi,
I am trying to find a cheap way to get to Bude (north Cornwall) from London this month.
The Train Line website offers tickets from £123 and higher.
How could be get there by buses to make it cheaper please?
Where should I look?
Thank you very much.

Use Google which gets you to www.visitbude.info which tells you, on the Info page, what you wish to know:
National Express coaches
From the North, the London Paddington to Plymouth route is a fast and reliable service. Alight at Exeter Bus Station. (In the summer months, National Express run a direct Coach from London to Bude). From Exeter Bus Station, local bus companies operate the 6 and 6A service which runs from Exeter to Okehampton, and then onto Bude. Alight at The Strand, which is opposite TSB bank. Click here to book a coach, or check times and prices
By train
From the North, the London Paddington to Penzance line is a fast and reliable service. Alight at Exeter St David’s Station. From Exeter St David’s, First and Western Greyhound operate the 6 and 6A services which run from outside the station to Okehampton, and then onto Bude. Alight at The Strand, which is opposite TSB bank. Click here to book a train, or check times and prices.
Public transport
You can use the local bus service to get to many areas of Cornwall and Devon. For example, there are regular services from Bude to Boscastle, Tintagel, Camelford, Newquay, Padstow, Truro and many other places in-between. Click here to see our handy page on bus travel.

When exactly are you travelling?
Forget the trainline
Megabus offers the option of a coach or (a slowish) train to Exeter - then take the local bus to Bude.

Alternatively, take a national express coach to Exeter http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx
Also look at GWR - quicker trains but more expensive than the megatrain option.

1. Don't use TrainLine. Ever. It has no benefits over buying direct, appears in this case to have given you duff information and charges you a fee - which buying direct doesn't.
2. Booking a normal Advance Fare with GWR from Paddington to Exeter (there are no trains to Bude) via the National Rail website will cost you around £68 return if you book now for the end of Feb.
3. Booking a slower Southwestern train (3.5 hrs vs GWR's 2) from Waterloo to Exeter via the Megatrain website will cost you £12 each way if you book now. This can ONLY be got on the Megatrain site
4. Booking a bus (slower still: 4.5 -5 hrs) from Victoria to Exeter via the Megatrain site is currently £6 each way.
YOU then need to cost the Exeter-Bude bit separately.
But NEVER use TrainLine
