Erica,

I once took a train to Paris from Barcelona (connecting in Lyon). That's perhaps 6 hours or more. From there, one could take the chunnel to London.

So you could do the reverse. Many internet sights post train schedules between these cities. Good Luck!

The easiest route is by the overnight train from Paris to Barcelona which has sleepers and a restaurant. An afternoon Eurostar train from London to Paris would connect, but it would be better to get a morning train to Paris, have lunch then do a bit of sightseeing before getting the night train.

The reference library of a city near you may have the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Tables 45 and 11 have your trains. Overnight, as people have said, London Waterloo 1523, Eurostar with buffet car, Paris Nord 1923, Paris Austerlitz 2032, hotel train with restaurant car and sleepers, Barcelona 0824. By day London Waterloo 0827, Lille Europe 1129 to 1217, Montpelier 1704 to 1714, Barcelona 2148. All these trains have buffet cars.

Ben Haines
