London Report
Just got back from our stay in London and wanted to give some feedback since we got lots of very helpful information from this forum.
We were in London for three nights. Stayed at the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel which we thought was wonderful. A rennovated former insurance headquarters, it was beautiful redone with lots of marble and woods. Very LARGE rooms by any standards, certainly for London. It was an easy walk to the theater district and close to a tube stop. We can't rave enough about this 5 star hotel at a relatively reasonable price.
We took two tours through London Walks. Enjoyed both and thought they were reasonably priced. Both guides were very knowledgable.
Dinner at recently redone The Savoy Grill was outstanding; had three course pretheater dinner for 25 GBP in a most elegant setting. Also ate at The Ivy which was fun and good (though we saw no celebs). Another pretheater dinner at Incognico was okay for 12.5 GBP.
We saw Bombay Dreams which was entertaining but missable. Then we saw Thouroughly Modern Millie which was absolutely delightful - a must!
Other sights we visited were Sir John Soane's Museum around the corner from our hotel and the Cabinet War Rooms which were extremely interesting.
Took buses whenever we could to get a good view of the city. This was our fifth visit to London and we enjoy it everytime.

I am glad you had such a good time, and offer a couple of footnotes about Greenwich. For a pub lunch, I think the Mitre does better than the Trafalgar Tavern. I haven t tried Goddards, but the web site looks good, so I shall: thank you for the idea. Another place I mean to try for a weekday lunch is the Ward Room in the Greenwich University Maritime campus. As you say, the Queens House is not for furniture, but up at the top of the park is the Rangers House, beautifully furnished: please see http://www.theheritagetrail.co.uk/no...gers_house.htm

Wow. I am really pumped. We're going to stay a night in London on our way to South Africa in May, and I discovered I could stay at the Chancery Court for Marriott points. Cool beans! I hope they'll let us in early as our flight gets to Heathrow at 8AM, and we'll have just enough time to visit some of the spots we missed on our trip in 2002. A co-worker who has stayed in nearly all the Marriotts in London gave me her impressions, and so I picked this one. It will be hard to go back to 2 and 3 star hotels after this....
