London need restaurant for before Phantom

Can anyone suggest a restaurant that we can go to before Phantom on March 31st. Our price range is 25-35 pounds per person.

The theatre where Phantom is playing is no more than a 5-minute walk from the National Portrait Gallery, which has a rooftop restaurant called The Portrait, with panoramic views of London. The food is said to be good there too, (although I can't speak from personal experience as I haven't eaten there yet).

The restaurant is only open for dinner on days when the National Portrait Gallery has evening hours, but you're in luck: Thursday is one of those days.

There are sample menus on the restaurant's webpage, which is at http://www.npg.org.uk/live/portrest.asp

We had excellent food at the Salisbury Pub:

... and it's a gorgeously decorated place.

The portrait gallery looks wonderful and they have a very reasonable pre-theater specials. Thanks Bree for the suggestion.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions! We've just begun travelling to Europe and have used all the kind advice we've found here for Venice, Rome and Tuscany vacations.

Next year...Egypt!

Isn't the restaurant above the portrait gallery the one featured in the recent film "Closer"? If you want a preview, see the film.

There's a very good Italian restaurant right across the street from Her Majesty's Theatre. Actually, it's on Haymarket, on the same side of the street with a street between it and the theatre.
