London in 2 1/2 days!
We managed to squeeze in 2 ½ days in London before our Europe trip start. There are so many places I wish to visit in London but there isnt time. Anyhow, if Ben or anyone with London experience could review our itinerary and give us some tips, much appreciated!

WED, arrive at the hotel around late noon 3-4PM. Take a Hop on/off bus tour around the city, might try the Eye if theres enough time.
THU, Hampton Court or Windsor castle in the morning, British museum and other London attraction for the rest of the day
FRI, Bath and Stonehenge for the whole day.
Raymond: I think you are being Waaaaay too ambitious for just 2+ days. You don't say if you have been to London before. But you do say you have so many places you want to see in London and then spend 2 full days outside of the city. I would only recommend a day trip to Bath/Stonehenge if you had a week or more in London.

You cannot "do Hampton Court Palace" in a morning. It opens at 10AM and takes a minimum of three hours to barely skim and then 30 minutes for lunch and 30 minutes back into London by train.

A trip out Windsor takes even longer. If you left London at 9AM you'd be lucky to be back before 2:30 or 3PM - and likely later if you spend any time looking around the town after the Castle.

So if you go to Hampton Court or Windsor you would not get to the Museum until probably 4PM or later. No time to see it "and other London attraction".

For this short a visit I HIGHLY recommend staying in the city - see the Tower, British Museum, St Pauls and/or Westminster Abbey, maybe the London Eye if you are lucky, National Gallery or Tate Modern, and just walking around places like Hyde Park, the South bank, Bloomsbury, Kens, etc.

When we were in London, the lines for the Eye were three hours long- and then we found out that those were just hte people in line buying tickets for the next day!!!

The hop-on-hop-off tour sounds like your best bet. We didn't use it in London, but I've been on them in other cities, and have always thought it was a great way to get an overview of a city.

Like Clara says, the lines for the Eye can be long - so book the tickets in advance. You can do this on the internet - www.londoneye.co.uk - and then pick them up from the ticket office.

You don't mention what I've come to think of as typical tourist sights, such as the Westminster Abbey, London Bridge and Tower of London, Madame Tussaud's (okay, it's fun but I wouldn't go there if I only have 2 days). St. Paul's, Houses of Parliament. And don't forget to shop, or browse along old Bond Street, seeing the neon signs of Picadilly Circus (there's not much else, but reminds me of Times Square in NYC). Buckingham Palace.... there's sooo much to do!
