London hotels--great rates on Thistle.com web site.

I just saw some great rates for Thistle hotels on their web site for dates Oct 13 - 26, if anyone is interested.

A top tip for anyone visiting London would be to get a room at the Tower Thistle - right on the river Thames overlooking Tower Bridge (That's the very ornate Victorian one that opens in the middle to let the tall ships past). Make sure to ask for a room with a view of the bridge (they tend to be exactly the same rates)

The hotel is also next to The Tower of London, St Catherine'd Docks and the start of the river walk (passing the Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, the Millennieum bridge, HMS Belfast museum etc... Its a great location for anyone visiting the city and the rates seem to be very reasonable for London.

I'm afraid I must disagree that the Tower Thistle is a good location. It's not really convenient to much except The Tower and Tower Bridge. We rented an apartment at St. Katherine's Marina on one of our visits to London and we absolutely loved the Marina area but hated being that far from what most people term "central London".

The hotel is not that close to the Tube at Tower Hill, it's a bit of a walk to the Tube and #15 bus too for that matter.
For those who care about things like that I'd not recommend the hotel. It's also not the nicest walk in the world from the tube to the hotel at night.

The hotel itself is quite nice but I would not choose it for convenience at all. Just my opinion! There are other Thistle Hotels that are "closer in".

I agree with Lori that the Thistles at Charing Cross, Trafalgar Square and victoria are much nearer to places you are liklely to go to.

The walk from the Tower Hill tube to the hotel at night is dull and the streets are nit busy, but the walk is perfectly safe. From the other Thistles I mention there is no walk to the tube.
