London Hotel

I stayed there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it - very comfortable rooms (however there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - which I thought was odd, as almost every other hotel has them!). It's just across the road from Great Portland Street station - which I found to be a on a bit of an annoying train line (circle, district) as I had to change at other stations (eg Baker Street) to get anywhere central. However, the hotel's only a 10-15 min walk to the middle of Oxford Street so that didn't really matter. I'd definitely stay there again - although you won't like it if you're looking for something old and with character as it's a massive modern building

B and J.,

Try the Lime Tree Hotel (B&B) near Buckingham Palace ( I posted the address previousy, I can't remember it now!). Small, but clean and nicely appointed rooms, full breakfast, helpful and friendly host and hostess, many regular customers, good Wine Bar /restaurant next door. It's also listed on Rick Steves board.

Lime Tree Hotel is on Ebury Street and the restaurant is the Ebury Street Wine Bar which came highly recommended to us from a poster who was correct. I am pretty sure there is a tube station nearby, but I would ask or check their website. We walked just about everywhere and were only in London for two days.

Hope that helps.
