London Heathrow airport

How far away is the airport to the city? I have 2 hrs in between my connection with my flight..should I take a quick trip out to the city and walk around to get a "quick glance" of london?

Me smells a troll?

If this is a serious question ... in 2 hours you will be lucky to make it from terminal x to terminal y and should be surprised if your luggage makes it to the destination the same day.

THE HEATHROW EXPRESS LEAVES EVERY 15 MINS FOR PADDINGTON STATION, AND TAKES 15 MINS, COST $15 ONE WAY. FROM THERE YOU CAN TAKE A CAB OR TUBE (UNDERGROWND) TO OXFORD STREET AND WALK AROUND. YOU MAY HAVE 1/2 AND SO I WOULD NOT ADVISE.

Wow, it sounds like London airport is really big or something?!? Now with all these reply, I'm a lil worried about my connecting flight from there to Rome. I have only 45 min in between connecting goin there, but coming back..I at least have 2 hrs! Thx all for the replies!

I am surprised your travel agent recommended only a 45 minute layover. 2 hours should be fine if everything is on time to make your other connection. You will not have time to go into the city and I'm fairly sure that since you're flying from Rome and onto the states, you won't got through customs but will be in an area of travelers passing through. Personally, I am not a fan of Heathrow. I hate the way they herd passengers through. You might check out their web site so you are familiar with the lay of the airport.

Echo sentiments on Heathrow above. I've spent many hours in that airport, and it has become my least fav major airport in Europe.

Susan:

you can't possibly make it through Heathrow in 45 mins even if you are connecting through the same terminal. If you take off on time from the US you will still have the normal 30 minute delay circling southern england, before you are cleared to land (it's quite lovely on a clear day).

If you have to change terminals, (you will probably land in 3 or 4) it can be quite a distance.

Regardless, your luggage will never make it in under 3 hours (to be safe) and I am sure you would not need the hastle of trying to sort this out in Rome (trust me, I have had it happened).

As Betsy says, your agent messed up ...I would suggest you ask the flight to Rome changed to a later one and fnd out before you go which terminals you arrive/leave from so you are prepared.

Have a good trip.
