There is a Rainforest Cafe near Picadilly and plenty of places near Covent gardens and Leichester square. Know it is not Marble Arch, but the underground works so well, you can get anywhere. Try the pubs, make sure they have a family room or beer garden.

btw, the museums in London are going to free soon!!

Anne

Don't forget about Wagamama's! The kids will LOVE the high-tech, fast paced environment (and the food is great, too)! There's are two now, I believe and one is not far from the Oxford Circus tube stop. Check any guidebook--chances are it's in there and you'll be able to get the address (or check the phone book, of course, once you get into town.

Eating in London can be a financial and logistical challenge for families. Fortunately, there are chain restaurants in London beyond McDonalds ("Yuck!" IMHO). For lunch or a snack, try one of the many Pret a Mangier shops that are all over the city. They have quality sandwiches and salads, for eat-in or carry-out ("take-away" in Britspeak). They are also smoke free--a relative rarity in London. There are other chains that appeal to some families: Bella Pasta, Pizza Express, Francofil, and others. They are also spread over the city in multiple locations.

Hope this helps.

David White
http://www.KidsToLondon.com
[email protected]

Joyce: There is a Pret a Mangier right at the stop. Walking towards Hyde Park, You will pass a McDonald's on the right side of the street. Pret is about 1/2 block of so on the corner before you cross to the park, if I remember correctly. It wasn't open yet when I passed, but everything they were putting out looked fresh and delicious.

Pret a Manger are great but htey are take out or eat standing up. Bella pasta's and Pizza Express which are all over the place are really good for family, reasonably inexpensive meals. The arugula pizza at PE is super! Garfunkel's is in my opinion less tha mediocore!A lot of the smaller Italian restaurants are very child friendly. try Dino's or La sala romana , on Glosuter rd, really harrington Rd , it around the corner and above a dino's. if you want a sit down realy nice not terribly expensive dinner, Dover sole for only 12 GBP. Lots of other dishes less expensive.
