London Eye Queues
Going to London on Tuesday ( 2 adults, 2teenagers). Trying to decide whether to book 'fast track' tickets to the Eye or regular tickets. There's a big difference in price. I was wondering how long the queues are during midweek.

You wouldn't want to go in the rain so factor the weather in if planning on pre-booking.
I pre-booked tickets to Alcatraz in California. We went on a day of record rain--they hadn't experienced such rain in San Francisco in one day in years--weather reports said that day broke or at least matched all records. Needless to say we went but were soaked through and through.
Not much of a view from the London Eye if it is raining I presume, so wait until the day. We did when we went a few years back and the lines were pretty fast moving. We went as it was approaching evening but still light enough outside.

A year ago, my niece and I did not book in advance because of uncertainty about the weather. So we bought our ticket and then stood in line to board. Could not help but notice the people on the more expensive line, champagne tour or something like that, and there were so, so many of them that our line actually moved faster as there were fewer in the non fast-track line. Might have been simple luck, but we were very happy with the results.

When I booked the London Eye, I didn't buy fast track tickets because I thought the regular tickets were already overpriced. I was glad I didn't pay for fast track because I didn't think the fast track line moved that much faster, and not enough to justify the extra cost.
Length of queues can vary depending on the day of the week and the time of day, and whether or not a large group is in front of you. Sometimes the fast track option will save you considerable time and sometimes it won't. Just the luck of the draw.
Here are some other perspectives on the queues:

We went on the Eye a couple of days ago - Wednesday afternoon. Just walked up, bought regular tickets and were boarded within half an hour at the most. Really enjoyable. We debated over booking tickets ahead of time but were glad we didn't because the weather has been so unpredictable.
