Janis, don't worry about getting any dirty looks from this American, we just don't go places where people are smoking. One of my kids has asthma, and their dad died of lung cancer.

Ellen - I wasn't pointing at you. I am sorry about your Dada - both of my parents have survived cancer.

But one of the WORST things many American tourists do (and make us all look like Ugly Americans) is go into a pub in London or a cafe in Italy or Paris and then sit there with nasty looks on their faces (like something nasty is stuck up somewhere it shouldn't be) looking down their noses and tsk tsking at all the locals who dare to smoke.

One is fine not going somewhere - but if you do don't expect them to change for you.

For the record, I love power bars, buy them by the case and find that they are a fundamental part of my diet! That said, one of my dirty little secrets is "bacon baps"! Greasy things with soft hamburger type buns, butter, and that wonderful English bacon. You can pick them up from to go shops along the way.
