London at Night: Lights etc. - Me & Mrs. Jones
Just finished watching "Me & Mrs. Jones" on PBS -- several scenes took place along the river Thames (sp?)looking toward Parliment. Both Parliment was light brightly & there were strings of lights along the sidewalk the PM & "Mrs. Jones" were walking. Don't remember walking in that area on our last trip (late 80s) -- is the area in actuality as gaily lit as this film shows? Would it be a relatively safe & popular place to stroll after dark?
Thanks -- by the way, this was a delightful Masterpiece Theatre show. Think it will be shown again if you missed it due to Super Bowl.
Yes - it's a great show! I only had time to watch the first half and taped the rest! Can't wait to watch the rest tomorrow night.

The scenery is wonderful. Just having gotten back from London this week, I almost cried when I saw all the sights where we had just been. Sigh.....

I can't answer your guestion about safety, as I have never been in this area at night. Then again, I'm never uncomfortable walking around anywhere in London in the evening

Cheerio for now,

Dale
Never heard of the show, although Robson Green seems to be flavour of the month (again) on TV over here, can't think why.

But to answer MHS's question, I assume they filmed on the South Bank between County Hall and Waterlook Bridge, where there are strings of lights between ornate globe lamps along the river wall. What with the glitzy new footbridges beside the Hungerford railway bridge and all their illuminations, and the floodlighting on the London Eye, it's full of life and plenty of people would be strolling there after dark.
